Case re-blading

So in my perusal of this forum I have seen a number of people say they sent their Case knife in to the manufacturer to have a new blade put in. I have recently acquired a Case peanut in SS but I really wish it was CV, the reason why I find myself wondering if a re-blade is the way to go is because this particular nut is in stag which is apparently rare for Case nuts.

So my question is twofold: does Case put CV blades on formerly SS models and; would you swap blades (my thinking is pure aesthetic, I love patinas and stag.)

You can buy a new case peanut in cv for less than $30.00. It would likely cost more to have the blade replaced by case after mailing etc.

I have recently been wondering the same thing. I love the sea green scales on my peanut but that color was only made in SS. I would love to have it CV, I'll be following this thread.
 
Case until recently had a line of stag handled CV steel knives called their Stag Rancher CV family.

They were just recently discontinued so you may be able to still find them for sale from dealers. It did not include a Peanut in the line, though.

If you want to know what Case will or won't do for you, you should probably contact them directly:

Since you would be shipping from Australia, I would guess that the cost isn't a concern for you. You might consider buying a CV Peanut in Yellow Delrin and shipping both knives to a knifemaker who would swap out the blades for you.
 
I just heard back from Case and they said they would do a blade swap for $33. So basically like buying a new one!
