Well, it took me a long time of hunting, bidding, losing, and sniffing out leads, but I finally landed one. I've wanted one of these ever since I was 7 years old and saw one in a display at the local hardware store; the Case Rio Grande Camp knife. I snagged this one at a decent price, although the market still seems to bear a crazy amount for these. Oh well, it's going to look mighty fine in the display case I'm building for some of my nicer fixed blades above our fireplace. I really like the light colored stag on this one. Sorry for the crappy indoor pictures. We're supposed to have a nice weekend coming up, so I'll try to snap some better pictures with actual sunlight!

And a size comparison with my yellow Peanut:

It's a big'un. 15" overall, and .25" thick at the guard.

Thanks for looking!

Excellent score, congrats on finding one of your grails.

Thanks Mink. I actually snagged it about two months ago, but it took a few weeks for it to arrive due to some issues with the seller. Since then I've had some expenses come up recently that made me sell a few off, but I can't bear to part with this one!

That is a GREAT knife!!! Very nice...We need to see the pictures once your cabinet is made as well.

Thank you! I'm headed to the hardware today after work to pick up the lumber and hardware, so hopefully I can get some progress made on it this weekend!

That's a great looking Case! Congrats on that find!

Man, I was hoping your title was referring to Case re-releasing it or something. Nice find! Jealous.

It's hard to tell from the pic, but is it a sabre grind, or are both top and bottom flat or hollow grinds?

Beautiful old pattern.

Ah, I may have my terminology mixed up a tad, but I believe they're both flat ground, top and bottom.
Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Holy cow! That's a monster! Very nice find, sir. :) I like the aesthetics of those old-style spear-point knives, like old Sheffield bowies. Nice stag, too. :D

Fixed Blades were my first Love in the knife world, and I owned many, THAT knife Sir, is a honey, and I would be proud to own it, thank you for sharing with us, now please excuse while I go to have another look :-)
