Just thought I'd start a thread - hoping these start showing up soon, I think the original date was October. Perhaps we'll see them this week in one of the Shot Show recaps.

Anyone have any intel on their availability?

Backpocket, Sod Buster Jr, Stockman, Trapper, and Mini Trapper (the one I have on pre-Order). I have no idea if they'll be rolled out in some order or all will become available at once.

I've seen them listed on backorder at a number of Case dealers.

I really need another knife! I could go for a sodbuster Jr, and a stockman. :)

Perhaps I'm the odd one out. But why did they have to make the nail nicks on their s35vn so ugly!? I'd love to have a case stockman in buffalo horn, but the nail nicks are a big turn off 😕

Completely agree. My guess is that they can water jet or laser the nail nicks easier this way with the harder to process material, but that’s just a guess.

Adding a photo for those like me who hadn’t seen this combination yet

I had this and ended up disliking it so much a gave it away. The "nail nick" being a water jet hole had sharp edges that dragged bits of everything you cut into it. Cut an apple, get apple sauce. It had to be cleaned out each time it was used or it was a crud catcher. And it loved to chew up your finger nail or skin if you pinch gripped it open.

If they do a second run of these they need to dress the edges to at least hopefully alleviate some of the crud catching. That or it's just pocket jewelry.

Edit to add: I should also add part of why I gave that one way wasn't just the above complaint. It also had several issues that have made me a "Case in person buy only".

I hear the folks who say they can't deal with the hole. Never bothered me, and mung builds up in traditional nicks too. At least with these, I can just clean it out with the free compressed air that comes out of my face. 🌬️

I have a Case Med Stockman in 20CV blade steel with through-holes for opening. From a user pe rspective,, I love them. The blades are relatively thin and the holes give a good purchase. I've never had a problem with stuff fouling the blades. (But then I never use a pocket knife for food. My knives are used on too many random cutting chores to then use them for food.)

From an engineer's perspective, 1095 and 420HC are easily formed and bent to shape. So the nail nick can be formed in a punch press. CPM steels need to be machined. Machining a proper nail nick would be difficult. You could do a :"long pull", but it won't be very deep because the blades are thin. I have a couple of knives with shallow long pulls. I find them very difficult to open. So a holy approach is indicated.
