Im not much on the collector series for Case knives, but I was interested in this pattern and it appears its the only version of the Saddlehorn with these style bone covers and the sabre grind. Anyone else pick one up? Seems pretty solid and a handy design...nevermind the etch and the shield. 3.5 inch closed.

Not something I own... but gotta say, I do like that knife. As you kinda hinted, the blade etch and shield kinda put a kabosh on the whole knife's appearance... but that knife pattern makes for a good looking knife :-)

I had one of the two blade Bose collaborations, great knife. Can't speak for that one, looks like a good design/pattern, but I can't get past the shield and scales.

I like the scales. The shield is bad but the etch will fade quickly...or can be removed easily.

I had a 5 blade Bose sowbelly with those scales, it wasn't that bad in hand, just not my cup of tea. To each their own though. I too would think that etch would fade with use. I wouldn't hit the blade with anything though, I would just let the graphics gradually fade. I hope you didn't take my comment personally. Just my opinion.

BTW, is that called watermelon bone? I got the sowbelly without a box.

That particular one is from the limited edition of Case Collector Club regular member knives. Each Life or Regular member was given the opportunity to order one of those. That bone color, which they are calling XXpresso Jigged Bone, is unique (so far) to Case Collector Club knives sold directly from Case. It has been used on the 2013 Forum Knife and the three Annual Club Knives for 2013 (Life, Regular, Junior).

For the members, the shield style, blade etch, and serialized bolster are all part of the allure, as most of them collect the knives for display and not for usage. I chose not to order one since I don't like the embellishments myself.

I am assuming you picked that up on an auction site, since otherwise you'd have to be a Case Collectors Club member and would know all of that already. :)

No I am a member, thought it would be a good idea to support the company I buy a fair amount of product from. They are nice helpful people and their efforts have value.

I really didnt seek out the collectors knives. Case actually called me on my cell phone asking if I wanted to get one...and I just said.."sure". No more forethought than that.

Oh and Dan I didnt take anything personally. Just getting a feel for other members opinions on the model etc. I also dont think the other standard models have a sabre grind...which interested me as well.

FES has one. Maybe he will chime in soon. I remember his being a dark color

Fes prized a couple of knives from my hands at a weak moment, I think it was after he made me drink copious amounts of Makers Mark Bourbon!, one of them was a Case Ebony SFO Saddlehorn, and I like the aka's scales too, lets see if I can delve way back into my library of photos to find the Case SFO...

AHA!!!

I like the scales. The shield is bad but the etch will fade quickly...or can be removed easily.

yep those scales are sweet.I got a production TB 2 blade with "black" scales which I had to dye because they were plain ugly (as I have ranted on before). Now it looks great. Good little knife and its CV.

I Like the Saddlehorn, especially the single blade one. Seems like you don't see those as often.

i got one years ago, love the knife just dont carry it much though, dont see too many single blade ones like yours
sharp looking knife ya got

I keep coming back to this thread to look at this pattern... it calls out my name! Gotta check a big box hunter/outdoorsman store tomorrow (about 25 miles away from me) to see if I check out some of their on display case knives... I'm getting the case itch! lol! ;-)

I have exactly one Case Saddlehorn, in Pocket Worn Bermuda Green. The pics I have if it are not my best.
