does anyone have any experience with the seahorse whittler? I was thinking of getting one for specifically for whittling. I have a case tent shield whittler, and a mcgrew black jiggerd bone whittler allready, but I like the blade shape of this new one. can anyone comment on this new whittler???

rev_jch, I have the Case seahorse whittler and the Bulldog viking whittler. The Case seahorse whittler is one of the best new knives that Case has put out in a while in my opinion. The fit and finish is very good, walk and talk are stout, and the blades are useful. It took some getting use to because the because the pen and coping blades are thinner than usual and the handle shape make the blades slightly angled when opened. The knife is a handful at 4" closed.

The viking whittler is basicly the same design but has carbon steel blades which I like better. The f&f on the viking is not as good as the seahorse. I'm trying to collect all of the seahorse whittlers, that's how much I like them. Case is not a popular knife around here but I would recomend the seahorse. I wish they would make one with the CV steel.

I gotta agree with 3nails on the seahorse. I think it is the nicest production knife they have produced in decades. With the new Cheetah's right up there too.

I have a Silver Script Seahorse Whittler with autumn bone scales. I was a bit reluctant to purchase another Case to actually use as a working knife but I was pleasantly surprised. It makes an excellent whittler. I haven't had any complaints with the "Tru-Sharp" steel yet, but my whittling has been confined to relatively soft basswood.

I just got a Autumn bone silver script as well. It is by far my favorite EDC. Before that it was the Swell center jack, but the Sea Horse is more useful. I want one with MOP handles now.

Yeah, it's a nice looking knife, but they need to make it out of the Chrome Vanadium steel instead of the junky stainless.

I see what your saying Dan. As far as performance the chrome vanadium has always taken the lead over their stainless!!! (by farrrrrrrr!!!)

I never carried a whittler but I do like them. I am looking now at a limited edition bulldog with abalone handles. Do the Bulldogs compare with a Case in quality? Berniesbarn

The old ones do, however its been years since Ive handled one so I could'nt comment on the newer ones.
