I saw this today, it looks like Case is coming out with another modern flipper knife. I really like the looks of this one, and will probably pick one up.

According to Knifenews, it is made in the USA, and considering that Southern Grind already collaborates with Case, I'll bet that they're making it for Case. I've wanted a Southern Grind for a while, and this looks like it might be my first.
It's pretty interesting to me that Case is coming out with a second modern flipper in as many years, despite the fact that they're well known for traditionals. Do you think we'll see more "modern" knives from Case in the future? I'm sure the core of their business will always be traditional knives, but I think it's a good business strategy for them to come out with modern patterns once in a while.

I like it a lot. I also like the SG collaboration too, but those, and likely these, are just priced too high for my liking. I do hope they keep it up though.

I like that Case is stretching their legs and trying some different things. Maybe next they'll make some traditional pocket knives with updated steel.

Isn’t that what we’ve wanted all along? Haha. It is a great looking blade, though. Aesthetics alone, I much prefer this one to their last model.

I agree 100%. I'm a huge sucker for Bowie and clip point blades.
Apparently their last flipper, the CG01, has an aluminum frame lock according to everything I've read. I haven't seen any reviews on the action or from anyone who has used one extensively. I'm not sure sure how the aluminum would hold up mechanically compared to Ti or steel. This new one appears to be a linerlock with aluminum and G10 scales, which I think will be better than an aluminum framelock

I appreciate that the lanyard hole placement and shape is designed to mirror the location of the old lockback tab placement.

I believe it is an aluminum frame with a steel insert for the lock interface, like how Lionsteel does, just not integral.

$150 to me would be a perfect price point for these. The Shark tooth design has always been my favorite so I'm close to dropping an order for at least one of these 2 from Shepherd Hills Cutlery.

Fiddy bucks would be my perfect price point for these (who wants to pay more?). $120 would be my pain threshold.

I think having Southern Grind manufacture these is a great move. I love my Spider Monkey.

One might well ask, "what took them so long ??". Hopefullly this move of modern or current trend upgrades in the product line up might help move case knives into the main stream of the knife market, beyond its boards comfort zone of producing tons of traditionalist slip joints. There must be new blood at the helm.

Well of course I’d love to have the price point at $50!

Considering the first knife I ever bought to collect was a 1987 Shark Tooth (in 1987), for $80....
An inflation calculator puts that amount to $178 now so it isn’t a HUGE stretch.

That being said, I agree that the high end price on this would be pretty good at $120.

I’ve ordered one but won’t have both versions for my collection unless the price point changes down the road.

Has this been confirmed? I haven't seen anything, and in the op I was just guessing based on their prior collaborations.
