I just bought a 1984 Slimline Trapper and was thinking, "Gee, this is a pretty large pocket knife". As in almost as large as the Back Pocket as far as length goes. My question is, since I haven't received the knife yet, is it possible to drill a hole in the the knife in order to accommodate a lanyard like the Back Pocket. Has anyone here done this?

I think you'll find that it's not so large -- it's a full half inch shorter than the Backpocket (believe me, a half inch makes a huge difference in traditional patterns size due to the way they scale up) and rather slimmer in handle depth (though it should be about the same thickness). It's about the only pattern in its length that I'll carry in my pocket. As for the lanyard hole, I'll leave that to someone else to address.

I have three of that pattern and I carry one of them every day. After you recieve it, I don't think you'll find that it really needs a lanyard. This knife is so slim in the pocket. It rides very well in either my right front pocket as well as my rear pocket. I do wear Levis most of the time however. It tends to stay put and not slide around and is always there when I reach for it. A small lanyard would look cool though. I don't think there is enough room to drill a hole. Enjoy your purchase, it is one of my favorite patterns.
