I've been eyeing a Case Damascus Small Saddlehorn lately and was wondering how thick the small saddlehorns are? Anybody have a pic of the back of the knife? Thanks!

I don't have a picture but I have a small saddle horn, great knife I think, about as thick as a mini trapper and same length....I really like them for carry don;t have a problem...Mike

I am likeing the pattern more and more. It seems like it would feel secure in hand while cutting. I would like a thin one, so I am interested in the thickness also. If anyone could measure the Case that would be great. Thanks :)

I'll try to remember to measure mine when I get home this evening. The knife is very secure while cutting because of the mass of the handle in comparison to the shorter, slimmer blades. The curved handle and jigging allows a good grip. It seems to be a bit more bulky than most knives in the same size range, but not too bad for EDC. I like larger knives, so for me that's a good thing.

I know some of the stag I have seen has been fairly thick but in bone it should be about the same as a trapper.

My Case Antique jigged bone saddlehorn.

Closed length: 3 1/2"
Open length: 6 1/4"
Overall thickness (two bone scales, three brass liners and two springs): 1/2" at the thickest point.
Blade #1: 2 11/16" long 3/32" thick swedges make both blades appear thinner.
Blade #2: 2 5/8" long 3/32" thick
Handle profile goes from 7/16" at the bolster(pivot) to 7/8" at the widest point(line where end cap bolster meets the bone scale).

I don't have a Case trapper on me for comparison, but I believe the one I modified for Ed T. recently was thicker than the saddlehorn. The springs on a trapper are quite beefy.

My only complaint about the Case Saddle horn is the shape of the handle makes it a little difficult to remove from my pocket clip sheath.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help! I would like to find a nice smallish, thinish single bladed saddlehorn. I love the one above! I'm going to check to see if it comes in a single blade in the same size. Thanks.
