Case Sodbuster Jr SS - blade finish question

Hey guys, first post. I've enjoyed perusing the forum so far!

I just picked up a Case Sodbuster Jr SS (yellow handle). The blade is very "shiny" for lack of a better term. Everytime I touch it, I leave a fingerprint. I usually carry a benchmade mini-griptilian, and I've got a few other "non-traditional" locking knives, none of which have a super shiny blade. Any way I can properly dull the finish a bit? I know, I could just use it and let nature take it's course, but I thought maybe there is a way I can quicken the process?

Thanks in advance!!

Yes they are shiny...can be a fingerprint hell at times

Just abrasive cloth will give you a matter finish very quickly, done this to my CASE Humpback Stockman's three blades, just mind yourself on the edges..Or you can use a moderate speed powertool. CASE does offer some brushed/matte stainless on knives, be a good practice on all their synth handles IMV.

If it's stainless, nature won't take any course with it. If it's CV, it will.

Either way you can dull the finish with sand paper or abrasive cloth as mentioned above. Not sure what grit would be best, but I would definitely only rub it in one direction. Maybe 1000 grit.... or maybe 600?

Yeah, I know it won't develop a patina like CV will, but just by using the thing the mirror finish should begin to dull. I may try a scotchbrite pad tonight and see what happens.

Try going in one direction.... not back and forth. It should make a nice uniform look.

for my sak tinker (also comes with i mirror polished "shiny" blade) i use 400 grit sandpaper. Its easy to keep up and and you wont notice finger prints as much (a pet peeve of mine to). You can also use 400 grit sandpaper to clean off even the stickiest of tape residue and it leaves a nice clean look to the knife.

I hit it several times this morning with a brand new scotch brite pad. Did just the trick. Gave it a little bit of "wear" without looking forced and took the mirror shine down a few notches.
