Well, I've got one inbound, of course that's a poor time to be asking how the knife is ;)
but with the little Imperial I've been using, I'm getting partial to the barlow style
and the Case Stag handled with damascus blades looks to be nice,

Does anyone here abouts own such a creature? If so, please share your
thoughts and images if you have them, looking to know how thin the blades
are ground down too, also fit and finish.
I am in FL for a few more days, the knife should arrive to my house before
I make it back but it'll be my B'day when I finally arrive home, hopefully to
a nice package :)

Well it would seem that maybe this is too new a knife for folks to have to
discuss? I had this a few days now, was going to sell it but reconsidered,
bills due but figured out a way to handle those, so this one gets to stay for
a while ;)

Very solid folder, zero blade play, and you'll notice that there is little or no
notch before the edges start! nice eh?

about 3 3/8" closed, the main blade is about 2 1/2" long with a 2" pen blade
both were in serious need of sharpening, but that was handled quickly and both
are quite sharp now.

Walk and talk is very nice as well, solid half stops, not smooth on the back side at
the half stop, not sure why they can't get that right? more work I suppose to do that.
but as I don't use it in that position, it's really not a problem, just an observation.

The long bolster, as is typical on a Barlow style knife, adds some overall heft to the
knife, plus making it more forward weighted, all in all a nice feeling knife when in use.

The grinding job on the blades were VERY well done, the flats are smooth, no ripples
at all, quite happy with that.

Here are some photos taken today,

Pay no mind to the dust specs on the blades

The one thing that would have been nicer would be to have had the smaller blade on
the other side with the larger blade behind it and have both thumbnail grooves facing the
same way, instead of needing to flip the knife over to open the smaller blade. But that
is really trival, but still would have been nice.

The knife's shape should lend itself well for a vertical sheath, which I'll attend to as I get time
just home from a few weeks out, but am due to take off again soon :(

So, this one, while a bit pricy, is well done, barring the needed sharpening, which is not
untypical of some knives and can be rendered sharp to suit your own sharpening methods.
I do give this one a thumbs high,

Barlows are not my cup of tea. But your pictures are fantastic. Great photography.

The blade orientation is the reason I don't buy the Case Barlows, even while buying other Case damascus knives. I like the way many other Barlows have both nail nicks on the same side.

Although I do have one older Case Barlow with both nicks on the same side

Beautiful knife and very striking damascus...ya picked a winner with this one.

Thanks guys, rmfnla I used a Canon G10 point and shoot, nice camera, they
were quickly shot earlier today, but it does show the knife off well.

edited to add, while shooting the photos, I had a sheet of white paper folded tent like
to reflect light back onto the knife and provide a clean looking reflection on the bolster

Very nice knife and photography! Thanks for the tip on the use of a paper tent. I also use a Canon point & shoot camera, a Canon PowerShot A720 to be specific, for all the knife photos I take.

You're welcome, let me expound on the tent thingy, it was folded so it would
stand on it's own in order to reflect light back onto the knife as well as being
in the angle of view of the mirror like surface of the bolster, without that being
there, the bolster would have reflected back the room behind me as well as a
bit of me too ;)
So tent doesn't mean a 'tent' as in over the whole area, that would be more like
a light box, but I didn't have one at work to use in order to get those shots.

You got the G10
I have the G9
I might buy the G10 next year
I am addicted to HIGH RES pics!!

Nice pics
I don't like damascus blades
Just my personal preference

Yep, well, I needed a small one to carry instead of lugging the 20D around the world
started with the G7, then the G9 and now the G10, my daughter has the G7 which is
also a very nice camera too.

and yes, damascus isn't for everyone, this is well made looking damascus and has a nice
cutting quality to it.

Damascus is not for everyone; neither is Canon. :)

I have a Nikon D40 with a few decent lenses; I've been using it for people and my dog and such but I guess it's time to do a little close-up work.

Can't be upstaged by a P&S!!! ;)

Seriously, thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks sir, we can discuss cameras and such in the Gadget area or via email,
so we can steer this ship back onto traditional knives again :)

Gary, I still have a G3 that takes great pictures. I also have a 20D with a bunch of fine lenses. Great cameras. Maybe I'll get a G10 someday for a walk around camera.

Some great shots of a classy Barlow. Thanks Gary.
That is a very nice damascus pattern. A lot nicer than the earlier damascus.

Thanks Gus, the damascus is certainly a keen feature on this one
and it carries nicely, was using it today a little bit, I find both blades
to be quite useful but the smaller even more so, I think because of
it's size you can have more control with it.

Handy knife, don't see a lot of them around??
