how is case's steel what kind is it.

Their steels used for the general line are:
420 stainless.
C-V (Chrome Vanadium) which is a chromed carbon steel.
Straight 1095 carbon steel.
They use some higher grade steels on their higher end lines also, but you'll see the three listed most often.

When I emailed Case asking about their steel, they claimed to use 440XC. Methinks that's just a little ===**, but maybe not.

The Cr-V is a good user steel. Rumor has it that the Cr-V is 50100B.
