Recently I was looking at current Case medium stockmans, and I noticed a version that had like an equal end frame,in the 3-3/8" closed size.
It occurred to me that I have not seen many like this posted here by any members.
I'm interested in hearing about one and possibly seeing comparison pics to the serpentine style Case stockman,in similar size

Thanks,
-Vince

If you're talking about something like this one, I just recently picked one up.

Overall, it feels better than my red bone CV stockman. A little wider, and the pocketworn bone is super smooth. The main blade is also a little wider. If it came in CV, it would replace my redbone stockman for pocket time. The rounded bolsters feel a little nicer too.

Edit: I'll try and take some comparison pics later for you.

MD13,Yeah thats it & Thank You.
So wider, meaning spine to edge wise?
These looked good Is that the harvest orange or something like that ?

They are a nice looking stockman. They have a special at www.casexx.com where you can get one in a stag handle for around $50. The only thing that would make it better is if it were CV:D. I'm waiting on mine to be delivered.

You are correct. The frame is slightly wider from spine to edge. Mainly just due to the equal end cigar shape. I noticed the blade on mine is slightly wider too, especially the edge near the ricasso, but that just may be because of the person that ground it. It's the pocket worn, harvest orange.

I had originally been looking for a new pocket knife for my dad's birthday. I was having a hard time choosing between this one, and a sunburst peanut so I bought both and let him pick which one he liked better. Whichever one he didn't pick, I decided to keep. It was win-win either way for us both.

(I'll snap a few different comparison shots when I get home later tonight for you.)

Thank You Dan,much appreciated
Thanks for the replies

I have one I picked up a couple of months ago. It is a very nice looking knife but construction seems to be a little off to me. I was expecting a more robust (stronger) knife. This one is a fine gentlman 's or dress knife but mine has slight blade wobble on the main blade and more of the light German type of snap when shutting it. The "Liner"? that seperates the blades seems too thin to me also. I still love the look and feel of this knife though and carry it as adress knife. Sorry no camera.

I can understand your concern about wobble and weak snap (and if I got a Case like that, I'd send it back to Bradford with a polite letter stating the problem). But what is it about a thin liner that would keep this knife from performing up to snuff? Would the extra tiniest fraction of a millimeter in brass substantively effect the strength of the knife?

mnblade,
The difference in the liner of this stockman and a 6318 that I am comparing it against, is a major amount of liner. Looking at with my bare eyes and a loop the 6318 looks like it is about 3 times as thick. The sides and bolsters on the equal end stockman are both tight and flush with no gaps showing through the backsprings. I am by no means an expert on knives but the wobble seems to be because of the very thin liner. I wish I had a camera to show this better maybe someone with a camera can do a pic for me.
