Case Stockman Mod Question

I was looking at the spey blade (my least used blade) on a Case 6347SS and was wondering if I could convert it into a cap lifter? I have found the flat screwdriver/caplifter blades see way more action for me than a 3rd blade ever would. What has me concerned is how thin the blade is, there wouldn't be much thickness to the actual hook that lifts the caps off.

I suppose if it broke I could always turn the blade into an awl or something. Anyone ever tried this? Thoughts if this is a good/bad idea? Concerns? Critique? Let me have it!

Its a bad idea frankly. With the blade stock being as thin as it is, even if you get the right cutout shape, more than likely it will cut the edge of the cap more times than lifting it. Then there's the possibility of snapping the blade. This mod was tried by someone a while back in the traditional forum, and was a failure. The mfg actually replaced that blade for the poster, at a cost, he was lucky...

Thanks for the response, that stock is awfully thin!

I just keep looking for an easy way out to have a sheepsfoot blade and a cap lifter other than a SAK electrician. And to be perfectly honest I really like my SAK electrician but I would sure love to have something that has both and still looks more traditional.

Have you seen the GEC Radio knife? It's a #15 frame jack with either a spear or clip main and a caplifter screwdriver secondary blade :)
But then again, no sheepfoot...

Yeah, I owned a #15 in yellow jigged bone with the spear point. Carried it awhile and sold it. Just didn't seem to do it for me, not sure why exactly.
