Well, I recently learned that Case has an active Twitter account (after they favorited a picture I posted of a Case Canoe I bought a while back), so I decided to ask them a question that had been on my mind for a while. Thought you guys might find the answer interesting. :)

Barnboard Crimson, bunt Amber and deep canyon goldenrod bone are listed in the 2016 spring product guide. Also several sowbelly.

That's some welcome news (possibly) Never understood why they withdrew it as it appeared to be a very well received popular option:confused::confused:

Perhaps you could ask them to put Chestnut Bone on their Pen-knife model as well of and why not a Yellow Delrin version of the Swayback too?:D

Thanks, Will

I just recently picked up a Swayback Jack in chestnut and CV, found one online retailer with two left in stock, but if they were to put out a yeller swayback in CV I'd have to go ahead and buy another one. The SBJ is one of of my favorite little folders and the quality of mine is on par with GEC imo.

I've wanted one for awhile now. I sent an email to Case regarding production a few months back and the response led me to believe that they would produce this model again. One of the members here even wrote a song about the knife! There is a lot of love for the swayback for sure.

I would love to have one in stag and yes I am a fan of Case knives. I think for the price point, quality and USA MADE they are hard to beat. At the same time I have an addiction to Rough Riders. Go figure.

Bought mine in 2012 for the standard $60 or so they were going for new. Still have it, though I haven't carried it in years. Just too many knives for them all to get used.

It would be great to see that pattern come back in some CV. I missed out on them when they were readily available so I would definitely be in for a couple.

I'd like to see it come back. I use to have the single blade version of the SBJ in pocketworn red bone, but gifted it to my father in-law. Never really grew on me, so I was glad to see he liked it. I usually prefer single blade versions, but on the SBJ I think I'd of carried the 2 blade version more. With the secondary market prices where they're at now for the CV version, no way I will pay that. I was surprised when Case shelved the SBJ, from all the praise on various forums I'd of assumed it was a good seller.

I think it's interesting that although they haven't made the SBJ in Chestnut Bone CV for a couple years and it isn't listed anywhere on Case's website, they still have a picture of it at the top of the page for the Chestnut Bone CV category.

This is some happy news to hear. Ever since I lost my SS Bermuda SBJ I've had a mind to get a CV replacement for it.

I just got a response from Marcy at Case. They do not have any listing in future production to run the Sway Back Jack in CV as of now. She commented that the Tru-Sharp SS has better blade retention which is why they aren't planning to do so.

Um, what? Blades fall out of the CV knives more often or something?

I don't understand it either. I am assuming she means the edge retention. That is what Marcy said:

Good morning Robert,

Thank you for your reply. Stainless steel has a better blade retention. However, Chrome Vanadium is easier to sharpen but harder to maintain as far as caring for.

To answer your question on CV for the TB61117, I do not see anything on the system yet. Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Marcy

Well, this is disappointing. The worst part is that based on this news I was going to go ahead and pick up a stainless version. Then I saw this:

So, I'm prohibited from buying an alternate knife based on the information that Marcy has shared. I guess that means no swayback jack for me. :p
