I was given this Case Tadpole knife by a friend and I am unsure whether I want to use it as a carry knife or if I should put it up as a keepsake.

It is one of the "Tested XX" or "Circle C" knives so it is fairly old but I am unsure of its value. It has been cleaned and polished but looks to me to be unsharpened and with very little use.

My normal small carry knife is a Victorinox Classic SD.

What would U do? Carry the Case or put it up?
Thanks

I would carry it. But first I would push the "report post" button and have the mods move this to traditional so you can get more responses.

Welcome to BF's....
Take a look in the Traditional s/f. Lots of great people there, and a wealth of knowledge too.
You will get some that say carry it, and some that would put it away.
Thats entirely up to you though. If its been polished, it has lost some of its value, and it looks like it has a pin crack in the scale. That is not uncommon though, even on knives that aren't very old. As long as it doesn't get dropped, it probably won't get any worse.
I would put it in pocket and enjoy it. They are very nice to pull out and just admire, even if you don't need a knife that day :D

Use it - it is meant to be carried and used. If I knew that people to whom I have given knives were not using them, I'd be annoyed!

I cannot tell you what to do.

I can only say that I carry and use all of my knives.

Very rich colour on that bone, it says use from time to time and with interest.

sandmoutainslim welcome that knifes a beauty. it is super collectible & exactly the knife i like to casually pull out of my pockets & clean my fingernails with when a bunch of knife collectors are in the vicinity.

What he said. It is an old , beautiful knife but it's not Smithsonian material.

I would put it in the rotation for sure. :)

Put it in "sorta rotation" :D

I have stuck it in my pocket a few times when going out to eat on weekends....but whenever my little girl has needed the straw clipped for her drink or anything cut I still find myself reaching for my Classic SD rather than the Case....mainly because I use the scissors on the Vic so often.

Odd that I would prefer a ten dollar knife over this classic Case but I do.
Call me a heretic.

Hi,

I carry all mine knives. A few get the lion's share of pocket time. But sooner or later they all get to ride.

There is nothing wrong with carrying it on special occasions and "resting" it for day to day use. But I think it needs to have some pocket time once in a while. At least so you can feel close to your friend.
