Case tang question

I picked up a case knife with a tang that reads case xx over stainless usa, which if I'm correct would be a 1964-1969. However, there are no periods in the usa. Is this correct without the periods in usa?It is a large knife, about like a large stockman, with a spear on one end and a pen on other end. Spear end has squared bolster, pen end is more rounded.... no pattern number on either blade. Shield is pinned on both sides and nice fat stag scales. I'm on vacation and can't get a pic at the moment. Any ideas. I got it cheap cause guy at flea market couldn't I'd it or guarantee it wasn't pieced together. Kind of looks like a jumbo version of the newer small copperhead pen or some type of whittler? Appreciate ideas as to what this is and I'll post a pic when I can. Thanks in advance.
