Greetings All!

I’ve poked around here and throughout the interwebs looking for this Case tang stamp variation. It looks 1920s-40s but there is a crossbar (serif) at the top of the “A”. Why don’t I see this in the tang stamp charts out there? Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Robert

Yeah that is a strange one. FWIW, the Case Select Stamps of recent years had the A crossbar. Without suggesting that it is, I am wondering how sure you are that the knife is not a knock-off.

Anything is possible, though it came from a high quality estate, specifically in a lot of vintage folding knives. I’ll take some more photos and post them shortly.

Yeah, that would be weird to do such a good shield and then make such an error on the tang stamp.

Any idea where they came up with that particular A ?
Is it possible that it was based on the tang stamp that the OP's knife has, and for some reason it's one that just wasn't known by whoever created the tang stamp chart ?
A lot of knife tang stamp charts do have missing information after all.

Knife looks good to me. Tang stamp variations happen. Case was making knives to use, they weren't going to throw out a stamp just because it was cut a little different from normal.

I could be wrong, but the scales look like plastic or Delrin. Anyone know what years Case used that?

It was called Slick Black or black composition. Case first started using it around 1940 or so.

What are the dimensions of this knife?
Does it have a pattern number on either blade?
