Does anyone know what kind of steel case used in their Tested Razor Edge Knives and how they compare to the tru sharp in edge retention.

Thanks

In all likelihood, it's the same steel (Tru-Sharp = 420HC). Case produced the 'Razor Edge' series knives back in the '70s (for the most part, although it may've run into the '80s). I think it was more marketing/labelling than an actual difference in steel. Perhaps a difference in edge finish (a little more polished). I have a 'Razor Edge' etched 5265 Folding Hunter, from 1976 I believe.

Edit:
The 'Razor Edge' marked knives that I referred to, are the same standard stainless as Case used in their other stainless knives of the same time period. Of that, I'm sure. I'm not sure when Case started referring to their standard stainless as 'Tru-Sharp' (might've come later). But I'm still fairly certain that it is all the same variety of stainless (420HC). There's also the question of whether their heat treat methods have changed or evolved in the last 40+ years, so that might contribute to differences (if any) in edge retention.
