OK everyone has been calling in asking when's the next Case Trapper Wowbagger Mod ? ? ?
(not really)
But here it is !
Think box knife . . . think splinter picker . . . a small blade with a big full fisted handle as well as a long blade. Honestly I have way more use for this than the peanut butter spreader blade so out comes the Dremel and the little cut off wheel / nail nick maker.
I got this knife Fri. evening. Sat morning before work it had this basic mod roughed out and today I enlarged the nail nick (has to be pretty deep because the spring is strong for such a short blade) and I evened out the end that was cut and rounded it . . . while I was near the paper wheel at the grinding station I couldn't help touching the edge on it. Oh yeah !
Saturday at work I had used BOTH blades in the first fifteen minutes. I am very happy with the results. I might go a bit shorter on the blade; time will tell (I want a blade I can do detail work with and cut boxes or at least the tape and open plastic packages as well as open card board boxes.
This mod on this particular knife with gun stock diamond pattern scales has been on the back burner for a year or so. I even tried a couple of other knives to see if they would fill the need such as the Delica Wharnclffe, which is a brilliant knife that I like a lot, but in the end I still wanted this knife as well.
I'm glad I got it, I'm glad I modded it this way.
The diamond texture is a little slicker than I thought it would be traction wise. Makes me appreciate regular jigging.
The fit and finish of the knife are really nice. No problems at all. I do wish the light holiday in the bone was dyed and maybe the dye was a little darker in general but that's Case these days right ?
The cuts in the bone that make the diamond pattern are really interesting to look at. There is a texture in the very bottom of the cuts that is regular and adds an interesting "Micro detail" to the pattern. I like it.
Time for too many photos :
Quick work before work

Looks nice as well as a good user (I think).

Before I got the knife I was seriously considered removing the long clip blade and just keeping this short blade. For now I'm going one step at a time. I do like the clean grip with only one blade on some of my other Case Trapper mods.

The nail nick needs to be particularly deep so I can over come the strong spring force with a short blade.
