Hello all! Long time view! First post! Most of my experience with knives have come from reading these forums! The problem is I picked up a mint trapper 6254SS without the correct box and I can't find any information about it. I have searched all over the internet and keep coming to dead ends. It appears to be from 2010. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it! I have never come across a bone color as this. Also the case shield and the pinched bolsters are different to me. I first thought it was amber bone, but my mini trapper which is amber bone doesn't have the yellowish tone to it as this new one does. Does anyone know as to what bone color is this called or any information about it? Thanks in advance!

Google - Case 6254SS Knife - and all kinds of stuff comes up about that knife.

Thanks for the reply! I have searched and I can find anything from regular to slanted bolsters. I even found one trapper that appeared to be the same shield, but instead it had two XX's without the case name. I'm just stumped!

Might do a Google search on Case Item# '08495', which is the catalog number for the more specific config of this trapper. I'm seeing search results including the 'bowtie' shield and the pinched bolsters (on 2008-vintage knives), in what's described as 'brown bone' handles. Don't know if the color matches yours (lighting in pics can make it seem vastly different), but the other unique attributes seem to be there. Here's a pic from a current 'auction site' listing for one that appears to be similar:

(I came across the item number in searching for 6254 patterns with the 'bowtie shield', BTW)

Here's a link to knifecenter's (discontinued) listing for the same item from Case. Knifecenter is a paid BF dealer member, so the link shouldn't stray from forum rules:

They reference it as 'CA8495' for the item/catalog number. An excerpt of their product description is below:

"(...) The rich color of the Peach Seed jigged Brown Bone handles, embellished with the Case Bowtie shield. The mirror-finish of the Tru-Sharp™ surgical steel blades, their edge honed and polished to a razor's edge. And the nickel-silver bolsters, pinched. (...)"

Awesome! Thanks for the info! I have attached a pic of the tang...I did a search earlier today focusing on the shield, but couldn't find what that shield was called. All I came across was the oval and diamond. This really helps out a lot! I even tried to locate old case catalogs to search through, but only found pre-WWII.

Goldenrod. I have a trapperlock like it. Mine is from 2009.
Thanks! I searched for previous bone handle colors and got slightly overwhelmed by the choices! I'm more of a yellow delrin kind of guy, but sometimes particular colors in bone really catch my eye as this one has done!

You need to go to Case Knives home page. You find all kinds of info there. Looks like you have a 2010.
