As the title says, I have a case trapper I received as a graduation gift about 9 months ago, and it has been edc'd everyday since, and it has been well used. Recently, I started having a problem with the spay blade. Its like it has lost some of its walk and talk. Its opening easier and not snapping into the fully open position with authority like the clip blade. Is this something I should worry about, or should I just let it go? What kind of service should I expect to receive from case should I choose to send it in?

Have you tried giving a good, thorough cleaning? There might be some gunk trapped in the joint that is causing the action to be sluggish. If that doesn't work, I would send it in. I don't have any personal experience with Case's customer service, but I have only heard good things.

Yeah, the cleaning was the first thing I did. I will try it again. I cleaned it in the fashion I have read about on here. Cleaned the joints out in warm soapy water, and continued to clean until no more gunk came out. Then I blew the joints out with some canned air and oiled them up. I will try this again and see if it helps.

Case will take care of you if you find that your attempts to clean and fix the problem are insufficient to solve the matter.

I just sent back a Medium Stockman for weak springs. But it was hardly used and always like that. I just hesitated sending it back since it was a limited run. And both springs where weak. I did not use it since I was not comfortable with how easily the blades closed. We will see what Case does and how long it takes.

I wonder if I should test out Canal St's customer service for the same reason...or rather, my single blade moon pie Trapper has useless snap from day one.Not the only Canal St I've had with this quality either...

I don't expect that it's the case, but I've seen super-cheapies lose their walk-and-talk when the spring was flawed and developed a hairline crack. This would then usually worsen and the spring would end up sticking out of the back of the knife and fall off.

It's probably just dirty though.
