Im lusting over a trapper in the Amber Bone in cv. Does anybody edc one? Seems like it might be a tad big for the front pocket. Also noticed they make a nice looking belt sheath for the trapper, anybody carry one on there belt. I usally carry a leatherman, but will glady put it away if I decide on the sheath option.
Thanks

I carry a case trapper in Chestnut bone in my back pocket next to my wallet everyday. Just picked it up recently to replace my creap china-made buck trapper, and i'm getting a lot of use out of it already. I have to admit, when I first started carrying a trapper, I had to conciously reach for it when something needed cut rather than just grabbing my stockman out of my front pocket. As time wore on, I began to find the larger blades more useful for certain tasks, and now I just feel naked if it's not in my pocket.

I have carried mine in a sheath but usually carry mine in my pocket. Trappers are great and the amber bone model is a beauty. Rember , real men carry trappers.;)

grateful, you are very obviously insane. real men ( construction ) carry stockman style knives. you're welcome. :D

I have carried a trapper in my front pocket for 25+ years and never had a problem, nothing wrong with a sheath if you are so inclined though.

I like the trapper pattern a lot too. I have a few Case #54 (4 1/8") and a #07 (3 1/2"). I find the #07 to be the perfect pocket size and It will do just about everything the larger knife will do. They are both nice knives I just thought I'd let you know about the mini trapper.

I have a trapper and a mini-trapper, and I'd have to say the mini is more pocketable for me. That said, the full sized trapper fits well in a back pocket.

I have some trappers and like them. Some have mentioned the mini trapper. It is a good size. I don't have any, but it is close to the Copperhead, and I find the pen blade more useful then the trappers spey blade. Check out the Copperheads if you like the small trappers.

Gotta agree. I prefer the MT and Copperhead (full size) to the trapper..

I'd have to go double check, but IIRC the MT is 3 1/2 inches and the Copperhead is just a hair over 3 7/8 inches

I have a Case amber bone trapper in CV, great knife. maybe not so great in the pocket, better in a sheath. it's just plain heavy and drops to a horizontal pocket position. they are really good looking after you've used them with the patina they develop and all.

I bought one (yellow handled one in CV) a while back at Smoky Mt Knife Works. I just couldn't resist another Case Trapper. Yes you can easily carry them without discomfort in a pants pocket. It is a knife you can actually use. A Remington Bullet knife in a Trapper pattern is my standard deer field dressing knife. I just find that I always reach for the smaller blade when doing real chores rather than playing around. Don't waste your money on a belt sheath.

Mine probably sees the most pocket time of all my slipjoints. It rides either in the front pocket, or in the back next to my wallet. Sometimes even by itself in the back pocket. Never had a problem with its size.

I have a number of large Trappers (including the Case Chestnut CV), and indeed it is my favorite traditional pattern. I carry them fairly often and while they can ride loose in the pocket, they are for my taste a bit large for that. I perfer a belt carry for my trappers, and for belt carry I prefer the D.M. Bullard knife holster.

I occasionally carry a Case Mini-Trapper with Amber Bone scales and stainless blades. It is a very nice knife and looks very good and is a little bit smaller than the full size trapper; but is still decent sized. That might be something for the OP to look into.

I've pocket carried a Trapper most of my life with no problems and I'm not a big guy. Also, if you want the sheath, I have one I'll send ya for free. Send me an email with your address and give me a couple days to procrastinate before I venture into civilization to the post office.

I also have a Case Trapper in amber bone and CV that gets occasional carry. It's fine in my RFP. Great knife, great blade steel, gets extremely sharp. I particularly like the spey blade for working around my dogs cutting tape and ace bandages.

I have some Queens and a Northfield too, but Case is my fav slippie so far. I'm waiting for a mini-Trapper in amber bone and CV, since I seem to be drawn to the amber bone models.
