Case V-42 or Boker M3?

Hello All,

I'm looking for a WWII-style fighting dagger to add to the kit. I have looked at the repro Case V-42, the Boker M3.

Is there a quality difference between them? I know the histories of the knives, and the reason for development and deployment were markedly different. I'm looking for best strength and edge.

The advice I have received from Forum members led to my K5 'Hawk and Rat machete. (Thank you!) So I thought I'd ask again.

And again, thanks.

The M3 has a stouter tip than the V-42.

The Case reproduction V-42 is pretty collectible & can cost a lot more than the current Boker M3.

If I was a soldier during that time frame I'd of preferred the M3 over the V-42.

That said, the V-42 is a sexy knife.

Thanks for the reply.

The blade geometry on the M3 does looks stouter. Thicker, less taper. I'm leaning towards the M3.

I think I'm going to try and pick up an Ontario M3, so it's 'Merican-made.

I like the Case V-42 better, but it's going to be much more expensive & probably wouldn't be a good one to use, as it's tip is thinner & it's now more of a collectable.

Between the Boker & Ontario, I like the looks of the Boker better, but would probably also go with the Ontario.

I'm looking at these knives as well. I think I'll end up buying both. As far as the M3 goes, the Boker looks better to me, I like the sheath it comes with.

If I were a soldier in WWII I'd want both!
