well do you know what the case vault is?

Case has a program where they take a selection of their patterns out of production for a set time (don't know what that is offhand). That's "putting them into the vault". Why? I'll let Case tell you: http://www.wrcase.com/vault/

Thanks! I didn't know about the vault. I'm goning to read about it right now.

IMHO, the Case vault is the place that they put patterns that aren't selling well enough for them to continue production at the moment. Having a pattern in the vault gins up interest in a few years when they bring it out and hopefully drives sales of the pattern up. Fortunately, it also let's smaller makers to make their versions to fill the hold and we all get better and different knives.

Disney does the same thing...if you're unable to buy a title, then they 'release' it from their vault, they always have television adverts saying that they're pulling it out of the vault for a short time...so buy now.
