Many posts here say post 1970 Case knives aren't that great.

What about Schatt & Morgan?

Any other makers worth looking at for for this style pocket knife?

TIA!

Schatt & Morgan knive are the premier knife line of Queen Cutlery Company, Titusville, PA.

IMHO, Queen products are the best factory made traditional slipjoints and hunting knives available. Queen also makes a very nice line of Queen brand slipjoints in D2 blade steel.

I've had a few Schatt & Morgans of recent manufacture and I'd recommend them highly. I especially love their little wharncliff whittler, not many were made, but they show up fairly regularly at shows, etc.

All the S&Ms I have seen are very nice. Way better than the standard Case. If you like slip joints I highly recommend.

Queen/S&M, no contest!

I've recently bought 4 Queen Cutlery knives and there is no comparison. Fit and finish is perfect. Not god or just OK, but Perfect!

I have one of their stag knives (carved bone that is) and I think it looks kinda fake...just my opinion. I'm sure others like it. Bone is much stronger so it is better handle material than stag.

Cocobolo is currently my favorite handle for their knives. It feels warm and it's lighter than most other handles. Hard to describe but it feels awsome! It's also very attractive beside the nickel bolsters.

That's a good suggestion, I'll look into it. My 1st experience with cocobolo was as a kid, I bought a set of cocobolo nunchakus. :)

I have a tanto with cocobolo handle and it indeed has a warm look and feel to it.
