Hello all! I am more than pleased with my 6.5 Stagbone Stockman in CV! I am looking at buying a Trapper in CV. Is the Trapper as strong as the Stockman??

I'm not really sure how to compare them strength wise.

The trapper is more than strong enough to hold up to any chores that it was designed for.... Of course this excludes prying which no knife is designed for...

A CV Trapper won't disappoint you. If your happy with your Stockman and like the size and the blade types of the Trapper, then give it a try.

I think the main question is: Do you like the blades of the trapper. Maybe you dont really use the sheepsfoot on your stockman that much, in that case, a trapper might suit you better.

I think a stockman is more useful for chores if you get one with a pen blade. I like a sheepsfoot for slicing down something using the point. Not really what it was meant for but works for me.Clip blade I usually belly up on it and use the edge for a scraper among a million other things. I have always been a stockman guy but now that I have a trapper, well, lets see....

I carry a mid-size Stockman at work and around town, then switch to a Trapper in the woods or on the river. Trapper seems to do better for cleaning fish/game with its longer spey blade. I wouldn't be without the Stockman's sheepfoot blade on the job though. I'm a carpenter and I use that thing for all sorts of stuff.

The Trapper is a very stout knife that still cuts well. I never used to like Trappers untill I got a CV Case Yellow one. They still aren"t my favorite pattern, but I like to carry my Case often. You won't be sorry you bought one.

I believe the blades on most Trappers are thinner than those on most Stockmans if both knives are of equal size. That being said, I haven't found the thinner blade on my Trapper to be a limitation on what I cut with it.
