Hello,
This is my first post here.
I plan to get a stag Barlow knife and have to decide between a Case and GEC#25. Budget not more than 120 $US. Any recommendation, information or experience about it?:)

The GEC Barlow is only 3" vs the Case which is 3 3/8". That 3/8" may be a bigger difference than you think.

The GEC is small in hand.........But I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Especially in the stag!!!!

Mine is the all steel version, with steel bolsters and liners. It is fantastic!!!!!

I cannot comment on the Case, but I can say that that extra length does make a big difference in feel in hand.

Added bonus, it fits in your coin/watch pocket on jeans perfectly!!!!!!! Meaning it gets carried everywhere!

Ooops, double posted!

But I sent you a link in your visitor message section on your profile.

If the Barlow is for daily use I would favor the Case. If it is more for collecting the GEC would be a satisfactory choice.

My personal choice for a using Barlow is the Queen/Burke small Barlow with D2 steel. Its always a pleasure to use this.

Bigfattyt, Thanks for your link. I just checked the same one as yours last night but this site doesn't ship to the place outside US.

If I could find one of the small Queen/Burke barlow's I would buy it in a heartbeat!!!!! I have one of the larges.

The GEC is a great user, but with that said, larger cutting chores (like big apples), cutting big cheese slices etc, can challenge it.

I don't have a Barlow from either of those companies, but based on the quality of other models from each company I'd buy the Great Eastern hands-down.

Just send you a link for small Queen barlow. Just check your profile

GEC is better made and offers more scale choices.
I see you want Stag, there's no contest, GEC is VASTLY superior to CASE offerings, they are too ground down and bone like for my taste.
CASE is conventional Barlow size, some very good bone ones if you hunt a bit.
Alternative is Russell Barlow from Böker in the Green River series, very well made knives indeed a bit hard to find though but worth it.

I've got a Boker which I like, it has carbon steel blades. Might be worth your consideration along with the Case and GEC.

Thanks for all recommendations. I had ordered GEC#25 Barlow (Longpull Northfield Burnt Stag) from TSA Knives. Very hard to find especially the store that can ship to my country. Now I have 3 knives on the way. This one, a Case peanut and a CSC Trapper. Hope I made the right decision. :)

My first GEC was a Northfield #25, I haven't looked back since. I think you will be very happy with it. Mine was a Snakewood #25 but I do have one GEC in burnt stag and it's a very nice handle material.

This !

My small Burke barlow is one of my favorite knives, and is my EDC. I know that the OP didn't mention this one, and that it's discontinued, but you can still find them used, both on here in the Exchange and on other sites. My experience with barlows is limited, to Boker and Colonial/import "Barlows", other than my Queens, an old Remington and an old Camillus daddy barlow. The small Burke is my favorite so far though.

I find new small Burke barlow at 110$USD. Is this price ok?
