Case Whaler bail question- how is it attached?

So, I got a pretty cool case whaler but not too sure about how the bail is attached, looks like a couple of small finishing nails keeping it on?

I would think they would be rivets . Look at the inside of the liner where it attaches.

I have often used the excuse "I'm an idiot!" with my wife. I don't usually admit it to anyone else.
