Hey all, I am really digging the Case Wildlife Image Trapper with the Grizzly Bear on it. I found a website that has them in stock, but cannot find a real review or even a user comment on it. Has anyone had any experience with them that could give me some input as to quality, fit and finish, ect...

I would really appreciate any input at all:)

I'm pretty sure it is a standard Case trapper with smooth bone handles and the bear laser engraved on it. The Case trapper should be every bit as good as one without the bear on it.

I know this is personal taste but, what do you guys think of the size for edc? too big or just right. I dont mind carrying a big knife, as i carry a benchmade griptilian but want to get into slipjoints. Does anyone EDC a trapper on here?

I find it a tad big, but I also find the BM Grip a tad big. I have a BM small bone collector which I find more manageable. I don't have real big hands though. I prefer the mini trapper size to the standard trapper size. So, that's my input. Just how big a boy are ya?

:D I suspect it would do fine for you then. If your Griptilian is a good size, then the standard size Case trapper will probably be great. It is a slimmer handle than the Grip of course. I'm pretty sure there are several folks here that EDC the standard trapper at least a part of the time. Best thing to do is order it out and take a look at it. If you buy from a dealer (as opposed to ebay - you bought it, it's yours), you most likely can return it if you don't think it is going to pass muster for you. The standard size trapper got to be "standard" because it was very popular and still is so you don't have much risk there and that bone is going to look better in hand than in those stock photos (graphic renderings actually).

I am gonna get it cause I love the bear on it, but what are some of your favorite edc sizes (from case)?

I want to know where you found it 'cause I want one too. :)

The Slim line Trapper and Trapper are my all time favorite patterns. Companys make them in Large, med, and Small. So far I'm only buying the large because I need a 3" blade or slightly longer. The Trappers seem small to me after getting away from "modern designs". The large trapper wil do anything I need to do with a knife.

It's really dependent on stuff like personal preference (obviously), the type of work you do, and what you wear. I have an trapper that I love, but since I work on a computer M-F it's really overkill for my weekday needs. A mini trapper would make more sense (actually, I go even smaller, carrying a peanut and/or Victorinox Rambler). If you work in a setting where you use a knife throughout the day, the full sized trapper might be just right. If you work in an office and wear dress pants ..... well, you get the idea. :)

Yup, all about personal preferences and what you plan to use it for. I like my slippies 3 1/2 inches closed at max most of the time, unless they're really thin to compensate. Can't go wrong with Case either way though.

Please take a good picture and post it when you get it. As far as EDC sizes, I like knives in the 3-3/8" thru 3-7/8" best. The Case knives that I have that fall in that size range are the mini-trapper, the Saddlehorn, the canoe, the Texas jack, the mini-Copperhead, and the medium stockman.

Having said that, the standard trapper is a bit heavy in my pants pockets and the peanut and sway back jack usually get carried when I have a larger knife with me in addition to them, but these little knives act bigger than they are.

With traditionals (heck with one-handers too) there is no one perfect knife for everybody. If there was, we'd all be carrying the same style and size. What fun would that be?

Right now, besides my standard trappers (I've got 4 or 5 of those) I have two large multiblade knives - a GEC whittler and a Case 6347 stockman. I like them both, but they seem a tad large for me. A lot of what looks/feels right comes from what you are used to I guess. Both of those are very capable pocketknives and might just be in the sweet spot for you.

If you get that trapper and decide it's not quite right for you, I'm sure you can put it up for adoption or sell it in the exchange. I'm betting that you will like it.

Spoutz -- If you find the Trapper to be a bit big to carry in your pocket, Case makes a belt sheath for the trapper.

That Trapper with the bear sure does look good. It ought to serve you just fine.

That is a cool looking knife. I'm not usually real fond of the images, even though I bought one a couple years ago that has the Elk on it. It isn't bone though, bought I got it just because I am an elk hunting addict.

Personally, I never warmed up to the full size trapper. I'm a big guy 6'2 220 and have big hands, but I just found the full size to be a little uncomfortable in pocket, and didn't care for the way it felt in hand. SO, I got hooked on the mini trapper. It disappears in pocket and fits the hand really nicely IMHO.

If you like this particular knife though, get one and see for yourself. Everyone has different tastes, and there is no right or wrong. Even if you don't like to carry it every day, its still cool looking

Just an update.... I went looking for this one and found they have Turkey, Ducks, and ELK :eek::eek: too.

Looks like I will be ordering the Elk one. I wish it wasn't a full size trapper, but this version is a lot nicer looking than the earlier Elk knives that were done in Delrin

Did I mention I'm a sucker for anything with Elk on it ? :D

I don't like Case's large trapper pattern, and I don't like any of the laser engraving stuff, but I fully support and encourage anyone to buy any Case, for any reason. :D

The large trapper is my least favorite of all of Case's patterns. I can't begin to understand why it is so popular. I'm sure I'm missing something.

One big influence drawing me towards this knife is definately the bear handle. I handled the same one with a turkey i believe this morning. It was bigger than I expected but still smaller than my griptilian that has been a more than comfortable edc for a little over a year. I work in a hardware store so I'm sure I will find uses for the 3 inch blades;)

sorry guys!. i posted pics in another thread but completely forgot to post them here! If any of you guys are still checking this thread, here they are, on a crown royal bag and a red ryder bb gun haha!

I love it to death and I have carried it every day. I am now officially a slipjoint user!
