I have aquired (via hard trading), a set of W.R. Case pocket knives. I need desperately to obtain some sort of authenticity on them! It's a set of five knives: a large lockback, a Trapper, a Slimline Trapper, a Stockman, and a Peanut....all displayed in a wood/glass case. On the bottom of the display sheet (upon which the knives are attached by strips of two-sided tape) is a medallion. On this medallion is stamped, the Case Logo with the words, "Do Not Remove" "Samples". These knives have baby-blue scales, upon which are stamped "Louisiana World Exposition, New Orleans May 10 - Nov 11, 1984". I can't provide pattern numbers or dates of manufacture, due to the fact that the case is not designed to be opened, other than the removal of two retaining screws and pulling each knife loose from the two-sided tape. I'm afraid, were I to attempt that, I would damage the knives and/or the sheet to which they are affixed. I have never seen a Case XX knife embellished with baby-blue handles. I'd appreciate any suggestions, short of contacting W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery, which is my next step. By the way, I'm pretty sure the wood-glass case is NOT part of the original display, as it has a sticker affixed to the back which reads, "Quality S & D Wood Products", leading me to believe the set was once just the sheet of paneling, probably stored in a carrying case by the sales rep. Anyway, thanks for any insight you may offer!
