not sure so im going to ask, is this fixed blade stacked leather handled knife full tang?

thanks in advance.

Hi; what exactly do you mean by "full tang"? On a Case stacked leather handled hunter, the blade is blanked out of sheet steel with a narrow tang that is the full length of the handle. Then the leather washers are stacked on and compressed, then the knob or pommel is cast in place. So the tang is "full" in the sense that it goes entirely through the stacked handle with enough left to have the pommel attached.

Cilohaefink,

that's exactly what I wanted to know. now is that the same method used even on the newer Case stacked leather fixed blades?

I just didn't know exactly if the actual blade tang went through the entire handle all the way to the end of the knife or not. My ZT 160 you can see is a full tang. Allthough the Case stacked leather handle is full tang like the Buck 119 its not as wide and noticeable like my ZT.

Thank you Sir for your reply.

As far as I know, Case has always used the same method for their leather handle fixed blades. I can't see how anyone could make a stacked leather handled hunting knife that was not full tang - due to the need to stack the individual leather washers onto a solid core, unless I'm missing something.

Yep, the Case knives with stacked leather handles are full-length tangs, as are all other stacked leather knives that I know of.

There are some older knives that were even made with complete full-width tangs by using "I"-shaped stacked leather pieces. We had a topic on them recently, but the details are foggy.
