Did Case XX ever produce the jumbo stockman in yellow delrin with stainless blades? I've seen plenty in cv but none in stainless.

Not sure, but I'd think so. They are supposed to be doing Orange Micarta here soon. Look for Case 3375.

Quick search on '3375 SS' (for stainless) is showing some results for an older (~1995) version with a partially serrated clip blade. Here's a pic from an old eBay listing:

A few years ago, Case did have a series in orange G10, one of which was the 10375 SS stockman. I have one, seen at right in the pic of some of my large stockman knives below (mine has a 2004 date stamp); a lower angle in the 2nd pic shows the G10's texture & grain:

There are orange delrin covers right now but they are not micarta. I just got off the phone.

I like it better than the yellow personally. Not going to loose it in the grass or woods, that's for sure.

Yep. Looks like the large stockman will be pattern '4375 SS' (vendor pic below). The '4' as the 1st digit is consistent with 'poured plastic or Delrin in most any color except black and yellow', as defined by Case. They've reserved the '10' prefix in the pattern# for Micarta and G10 covers.

I have actually been playing wit one of these.. in amber bone (rancher sawcut version) and it is a fantastic knife! Definitely a must have workhorse. I think I'll be carrying this one around for a some time to keep testing it out.

Bjoern, looks like someone on the Case Cutlery website team made an error! Here is page 9 from the Fall 2014 Catalog - the price list says these will be available in October (now!?) The catalog has the knives properly labeled. OH

I believe that Case, under Parker, made a 4 3/8" or 4 1/2" Classic Jumbo Stockman but I don't believe it was made with yellow delrin covers. Pattern #40 comes to mind but then again a lot of things pop into my mind.

I think the largest stockman @ 3 7/8" currently made by Case with yellow delrin covers is their 47 pattern. RONG!!!!!!

Wait a minute, wait a minute. I just found a Case 3375 @ 4 1/4" with yellow delrin covers for sale on a vendors site. Good news - I may have to pick one up.

Yup..... I'd really like a 6375 in old pocket worn red bone.

that makes sense, thanks old hunter! i like those, normally i go for cv blades and natural materials, but the comination ss and synthetic handle material has its own appeal...

I checked it out a little further. Case did produce a Trapper built on the #40 pattern under their Case Classic line. The are still available and easily found. One of our Blade Forum sponsor dealers has two of them for sale right now - one with stag covers (6340) and one with bone covers (5340). The #40 pattern is 4 3/8" closed.

hm...on their website http://www.wrcase.com/knives/by_steel/stainless/smooth-orange-synthetic/ its a jumbo size 4 1/4 with round bolsters like a large 3 7/8 stockman but called peanut...

Saw that too. They also had the 5-1/4" Folding Hunter (4165 SS) labelled as 'Peanut', in addition to (what was supposed to be) the large 4375 SS stockman called a 'Peanut' and pictured as a medium(?) round-bolstered stockman. I sent them a heads-up via their 'contact us' page, but they don't seem to be very fast about fixing it.

The Case Classic knives were all in non-stainless (1095). I have a Case Classic 5340 (stockman) in stag; the 6340 was in bone, per Case's pattern-numbering convention, i.e. '5' for stag and '6' for any bone and all jigged options.

The Case Classic knives are quite interesting. They were commissioned by Jim Parker who owned Case Knives for a period of time in the 1990s but were made by Queen who it is said shipped the completed knives to Blue Grass Cutlery for boxing. Some even say that Blue Grass Cutlery made the knives but most don't think so. Blue Grass Cutlery themselves commissioned knives but didn't make them.

Anyway, it is something that would be worth anyone's time in researching. Some say they have the definitive answer as to who made the Classics, who boxed them, and who shipped them, but I think that's just speculation on their part.

One thing for sure is that a 4 3/8" frame stockman knife was built and marketed as a Case Classic knife.
