I finished a CASE XX Raindrop Damascus Congress with gem grade Lapis Lazuli scales today and I thought I would share a few pictures with you. It is in my personal collection. :D

The Lapis Lazuli is from Afganistan.

The Congress is my least favorite patern. In fact, the design itself is lost on me. I just don't get it.

That said, you've knocked that one out of the park. It's gorgeous. Probably the first Congress that I've ever seen that I'd be proud to own.

Cool knife! I'm with Rupestris- not a big fan of the Congress pattern, but I like that one! Nice work, sir.

I am not a great fan of the Congress but I wanted to try the complex geometry of doing the cut outs on each side for the blade pulls. I have to hand polish the cut out before I adhere the stone to the scales and then get the scale set right before the adhesive sets in about two minutes. It was a technical challenge that I am trying to master and the lines really came out well.

I had to do three scales to get the two on the knife as I failed to get all of the points lined up and cut correct on the first attempt.

As this gem grade lapis lazuli is sold by the carat I have a really expensive piece of lapis lazuli sitting around that I need to find a smaller knife to use it on! :)

Me neither. I only have one, an import, and it's a nice knife, but I don't carry it. The way it feels with the blades positioned in the handle just isn't too comfortable for use for me.

thx - cpr
