Anyone have a good pic of what the blades look like, all the ones i see are generic and dont really show the true color.

Howdy. Sorry, but we refrain from mentioning dealers who are not BF dealer members.

Hadn't heard of it so I did a Google search to see what it was. Here are some photos from the search results...

I have to say thats some of the most gorgeous dark red bone I've seen from Case in a long time!

And probably THE ugliest thing I've ever seen them do to a blade.

I wonder what that coating is made of, and if its anything like Ti nitrate, the so called "titanium" finish that tools and drill bits get... I believe I've seen it have a similar look sometimes.

Wonder how hard of a coating it is too, since even if it isn't Ugly at first, any extended use of the blade is gonna scratch and mottle the snot out of it...And being SS blades, it can't even patina to even itself out.

Also wonder if my buffer with green chrome compound would just strip it right off of a blade... 'cause that bone sure is nice!

  Really don't like the look of those blades at all.

Welcome aboard to Gregg2920. [ I see you've been aboard a while. Welcome to the conversation instead.]

I find those blades a little disturbing myself, but it's a matter of taste. It will be interesting to see how they sell.

It might be TiNi but I'm not sure. Similar "spectrum" or "spectra" or "rainbow" coating has been used by modern knife makers, including SOG and Kershaw among others.

It seems like traditional knife companies are trying to appeal to people who normally buy modern knives. It's not just Case. I see Northwoods, Queen, and Canal Street also trying to appeal to modern knife buyers.

There are even made in China "Zombie" traditional knives that have neon green covers and black coated blades... like a "Half Arm Razor" and "Unsunk Canoe" and "Half-an-Elephant Toenail".

Not for me thanks. Can't see the logic why doing this. The bone color however reminds me more the strawberry bone of old Robeson rather than the gorgeous red bone of older Case.

Ha ha!! "My Little Pony Shiv"!!:D

The appearance of those Case blades is kinda . . .well . . . . .
Super! :eek::eek:

Super-ficial that is!!:D:D

Reminds me of how a HCS blade looks after it was spot heated with a torch and you get that color gradient as it changes the farther from the point of impingement it gets.

That aside, the accumulator in me would love to have one because of unusual look and probable rarity of the blade. Most collectors of traditional patterns want just that, a traditional pattern with traditional materials. The purists want bone or stag with polished or etched HCS blades, polished rat tail or screwed NS bolsters, admittedly these represent the epitome of the cutlers art and make for a desirable knife and what most collectors look for. Me I like the unusualness and rarity of a blade like that and would get one if I could work the right deal.

Not a fan of that coating but it's good to see case experimenting. Progress not perfection I guess.

Whoa! That Case seems like a love it or hate it kind of thing. I'm not in the first camp.

I'm not crazy about the blade coloring, but I think the thing that I dislike the most is the poor fit (thematically) of handle material. Jigged bone handles don't seem to fit with this type of blade. Maybe some multi-colored G10 or Zytel handle covers would make it a bit more appealing.

Agree that the handle color clashes with that blade treatment. There's nothing about those knives that appeals to me at all. Those are an SFO by one particular Case dealer, not a general production Case product line.
