I am not what you would call a Case Collector, I only have a couple of Case knives. I have to admit they do have some patterns that I really like. Probably none more than the Copperlock, it is just a great looking knife. I especially like the way the bolster extends to act as a bit of a guard when the knife is open. As well as conceal the back of the tang when the knife is closed.

When I was designing my first custom folder, the handle was Loveless, the Wharncliff blade was Tim Herman and the bolster was Copperlock.

Bill Ruple does a version of the Copperlock that is one of the prettiest knives I have ever seen, but I can’t afford another custom right now. So when I saw this Copperlock on Ebay I had to jump all over it.

The seller believes the knife to be from the late 80’s. All I know is this is a well made knife, great walk & talk and fit & finish. The edge is factory and sharp enough to shave. I know that can’t always be said of new Case knives. This knife will keep me very happy until I can talk to Bill. ;)

You can look the X and dot code you find on the tang up on their website to see what year it was made if you want.
I love Case copperlocks......I wish they made a stag wharncliff copperlock, though.

I believe you can see on the closed picture the double XX and it looks like two dots under the X's, but they're not in a straight line, but the second dot is a lot lower than the first. Is that normal, and would this be considered a 2 Dot?
When were 2 Dots made?

That IS nice!!
PhilL, I'm sure you'll get some good information from our folks here, and if you are so inclined, you could post this on knifeforums, under the Case forum and get some additional information, I'm sure. Shirley is the Case historian there. :)

I mentioned in my first post on this thread a Copperlock by Bill Ruple. I thought it only fair to post a pic of it.

I think the Copperlock is a beautiful pattern and I think is about as pretty as it can get.

Nice score Phil. That's the first brass bolstered Copperlock I've ever seen.
The mini Copperlock (natural bone) is the only Case product in my rotation, I love the design.
Your custom is awesome, as is that Ruple.
