Has anyone seen or had experience with both?
Is there much difference between them -- in the 7 inch size?

ww2 military contracts went to case, ka-bar, western, cattaragus, & others. all contracts were built to desiginated specifications.basically being identical. from a value standpoint the case would probably have more collector value.

Neither Case, Western nor Cattaragus ever had a contract for the USN MK-2/USMC fighting/utility. KA-BAR, Camillus, PAL and Robeson Shuredge were the primary ones during WW-II. Case made an extremely small number of prototypes but it never went into production.

KA-BAR has never had a military contract for the knife since WW-II, all recent knives have been for commercial sales.

Conetta, Utica and Ontario all had contracts for the knife in the post WW-II years.

I have both. In terms of functional differences, no not really. The Kabar has a higher level of fit and finish, although if you're going for authenticity the Case is the more traditional with its parkerized finish versus the more modern coating Kabar uses. Oh, also the Kabar has an oval cross-section to the handle where the Case is round. Preferences run both ways, of course, though few would argue with it being easier to index your grip when the handle is giving you some feedback as to which way the edge is facing.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with either.

I like my CASE Kabar better than my Kabar made knife. I think the fit and finish is better, it is easier to sharpen, handle isn't as big and I don't know I like it better and use it way more. My go to sheath knife when steelheading. keepem sharp

havin' a Case would be different!
a rare choice almost.
seein' that everyone tends to already own or follows the ka-bar band wagon.
knowin' full well that they're all practically different only in name and to a certain extend giving into personal preference for either a mil-spec finish or a much prettier commercial finishing.
