Hey yall. I am looking @ getting a Case Medium Stockman or Trapper with the yellow comp handles and was wondering what yall's opinions of em were. I plan to get the CV blades, as I've heard those sharpen well and hold a good, sharp edge moreso than regular SS. If anyone could post a pic, I would really like to see one of the Medium Stockman and Trapper side-by-side for size comparison. Anyways, anybody that has used, owns, or has any experience with one of these, I would greatly appreciate it if yall would give some feedback.

I very much like my 6318 which isnt yellow but is still a medium stockman
at 3 1/2". I have just gotten a 6347 which is a very nice medium stockman
at 3 7/8". I've had it a week and don't know how I got along with out it
for so long! Although for daily workin knife I"m still packin my small tinker SAK and executive SAK.

Here is a 3318 3 5/8th medium stockman and a 3254 Trapper 4 1/8th.

Both are CV carbon steel.

I've carried 6347's and 6318's, and much prefer the 18. Just right for pocket size. Mine are old knives, so they have bone handles, but carbon (I think CV) blades. A yellow 18 would be an awesome carry!

I think the Stockman or Mini Trapper would probably suit my needs pretty well then, judging from that pick. Big enough to handle a lot, but still small enough to be highly manueverable. Thanks Confederate for those pics. Would you happen to have any pics of a Mini Trapper like those you posted? NP if you dont, just figured I'd ask, thanks a lot tho.

the medium stockman is a great knife i carried one for a while years ago and really liked it. one thing don't be afraid of the case stainless steel it's pretty good. i've bought a few lately and have been pleasently surprised. another benefit is you dont' have to be so concerned with rust in the summer if you sweat like a pig. get you'll like it. later, ahgar

I have both the yellow mini-trapper and the 3318. A 3318 was my first good knife. A gift from my Grandad. I wish I still had it. The #18 stockman is a great pocket knife but I do like the mini-trapper a little better I think. Both are also avaliable with cv blades and amber bone scales. You can't go wrong either way.

O.K. Georgian, here's a picture of a full size trapper, not a Case but the same size, with a small Case trapper (mini?) above. The blade is an unusual Wharncliffe, my favorite. I don't have one with standard blades, but that's the size for comparison. Good luck!

That full size Trapper would definitely be too big for what I'm looking for. I just broke out my grandad's knives, and he has a Medium Stockman, but in bone....6318. Same exact size as one with a yellow handle. I think I'm gonna go with it. Thanks for the pic too waynorth.

Do any of yall own a Case Jack knife, 32087? Its about 3 1/4 inches long, and I like the main blade much better than the Medium Stockman. The Stockman blade is a little different than other main Stockman blades. I thas more or a curvature than the blade on the 32087. My grandpa's knife is the Medium Stockman with bone, and has the same blade that I mentioned with the curvature. The blade seems a bit thin....dunno.

If you like the trapper but want something a little smaller try the 3207. It is about the size of the 18. The 3207 comes with CV blades.

Actually yall, I wont have to buy me another knife for a while, unless its just for having. I took my grandpa's old Eyebrand yellow handle stockman to the wetrock, and got it back sharp agin. Then I found out that my other grandpa had a Case Jack/Pen knife 62087, which is one I was thinking about buying. So I got the best of both worlds. My gramps old Eyebrand looks gorgeous, its a worker, but the handle looks awesome. The springs on the Eyebrand Stockman are stronger than most of my newer knives.....better watch your fingers when you're closin it....I did that once...closed the Eyebrand's clip blade on my finger....and it wasnt perty.

Click to enlarge the picture. Those are the two that I mentioned. Great for EDC.

Great carry knives indeed. Even better it's like having a little of each grandpa with you each time you take out his knife for a basic task. A new knife might cut as well, but never as sweet as one that connects then and now.
