Case

Here's a web pic of what seems to be the same pattern (spear main, pen and spey secondary blades). Stamp on spear blade's tang indicates 1993 year of manufacture.

I think this pattern shape is also sometimes (in general) identified as a 'swell center' whittler, indicated by the hump at the backspring anchor pin.

Trying to find out anything I can about this old Case Knife.

All help is appreciated!

Take a look at the bolster on the left, it looks like the scales might be in the beginning stages out gassing. They had problems with that material on the Case Classics.
Just keep an eye on it and isolate it from your other knives.

I was hoping that was just a bad shadow.

Any way to mitigate that?

Perhaps I should have avoided this one...

Well, hindsight is 20/20. If you can get your money back then I would pursue that avenue. If not, the scales would come off immediately and be replaced to make it a usable knife. Just my own opinion.

Just pinged the seller. He said it is "new in box, in new condition".

We'll see when it shows up.

It may be new, but it is definitely starting to out gas and will continue to get worse, as well as affect all knives that it is stored around. That handle type is notorious for doing it!
