Case4less Toolkit

A couple of years ago I bought a "case4less" toolkit which was a nylon belt pack with a Leatherman Wave, a minimaglite and a 4in1 screwdriver. I added a fisher spacepen and keep the whole thing in the console of my Ranger.

Its very handy, I always know where a flashlight, pen, etc. is and I'm never without it handy. I have found that the 4in1 screwdriver gets by far the most use out of any of the tools. I wouldn't carry it instead of the Wave, the Wave can be used as a screwdriver, but the short screwdriver with a pretty much full size handle gets more work because its more comfortable and faster.

The only downside to it is that the belt loops are way too big for a regular belt. The whole thing sags away from my body instead of staying "tucked in". Its too heavy for an edc even on a belt, but it would be handier if it was more comfortable to carry on a belt when I'm hiking, etc.

Anybody else tried these little kits?

I've seen pre-assembled packages like that based on the Nite Ize Pock-Its pouches, but haven't bought one. Looks good for someone who wants an all-in-one kit. I suspect that most people here enjoy shopping around for the individual components instead.

Another option for a dedicated screwdriver is the Pocket T-Driver. It is not as comfortable as a regular screwdriver when used with the handle in the straight position, but is excellent if what you're working on has enough room to use in the T handle position. Mine is made in Taiwan, and I've had no quality problems with it, no breaking or stripped bits. It is light enough to slip into a pen slot or clip to a pocket. My only complaint is that two of the three straight screwdrivers are the same size.

The pocket T driver looks pretty good. The T shape would give you a lot of torque.

I ended up with the toolkit because I was looking for a heavy duty nylon pouch to carry stuff like the leatherman, the screwdriver and the maglite. Since I didn't have a wave, it was not a bad deal. From what I recall, I got the whole rig for what the overpriced outdoor shop locally was selling the wave for. If I already had a large leatherman, I'd probably have just bought the pouch.

After living with it for a while, though, I can only really recommend the pouch to someone who wears a "really" wide belt. It fits perfectly on my 3" wide reinforced belt that I use to carry my Colt Anaconda on occasion, but on a regular "jeans" type belt its not so good. Its a nice package for the truck, though. comes in handy.

I have 3 different versions of the Nite-Ize "Pock-its" belt pouches, each a different size: the Pock-Its, the Mini Pock-Its, and the Clip Pock-Its XL.

The Clip Pock-Its XL is the largest and takes up too much "real estate" on my hip, so I prefer the smaller 2 versions. They work OK unless I load them up with both a heavy multitool and a full size Mini Maglite. I'm short and it feels like I'm carrying too much weight on one hip and none on the other. :)

All of these Pock-Its provide a good way to carry a pen along with the tools when you wear a pocketless shirt.
