Hey guys I was refered here from the general discussion section,

Does anyone know anything about this series of knives? I really like the look of the handle and it looks like it would make a good "pocket knife" to carry as a secondary blade for EDC when I dont want to scare anyone by pulling out the big ZT 301.

This is the model I am interested in:

Thanks

Knifecenter is a BF Dealer Member, so the link is OK.

The blade alloy is Case Tru-Sharp, their name for 420HC, which they run somewhat softer than Buck runs theirs.

I don't have a trapper lock, but some of the fellas here do. I'm sure they can give you good information.

hmm. no other replies yet? I don't have one so I'm staying quite. I will say that Case knives are of good quality and that I'd have one if a left model was available. If you buy it please post a review.

Can anyone speak for the "trapper lock" style? What exactly does this mean? It seems case has several of these knives that are all the trapper lock but the handle is different for each series. Anyone have a case trapper lock that they could post pictures of and talk about?

I don´t have any trapper lock. But Case makes a lot of knife patterns, with different handles for nearly every pattern. So there are an amount of different Case knives out there. The Trapperlock is sold in your posted XX heXX but also in Amber Bone and in Yellow Delring (I think) and then some of models are made of the stainless 420HC and some of the non-stainless-CV.

Perhaps this could explain, why some of the handles are a different from series to series.

Kind regards
Andi

I like the Trapperlock and cary one nearly every day. The quality on the HeXX is there, and the knife looks good to me. The Trapperlock looks like a traditonal knife, but it sorta ends there. I'm not sure what "not hard use knife" means? I use mine for everything from dressing large and small game, and food prep to anything would use a slip joint knife for.

Now, if you are talking about batoning it, find something else.

Looks like you have a heXX in your collection there? Do you like it? No not planning on battening with it just going to use it as a "pocket knife" but carry it in addition to my ZT 301.

I don't "use" the hexx trapperlock, but the fit and finnish has been about the same on all. The one I cary is the John Deere Yellow bone on the lower left. I've carried and used it for about the last four years. You can tell I have done a little custom work on the bolsters and blade, as well as it has been shapened away quite a bit. What can I say, I think they are fine knives and as a plus, they don't have a hollow ground blade!;)
