It is no secret that many people here love case stockman knives, and of those the medium size seems prefered. I curresntly own the 63032 in chesnut and the 3318 yellar both in cv. Both are very fine tools but I'm curious to hear which you prefer from experience and your argument for each thank you In advance for your participation in the conversation

The 3318! Why? Because it has a Turkish clip blade and rounded bolsters just like my beloved Uncle Henry that I got as a gift in grade school. That narrow blade is great for cleaning panfish and skinning squirrels and rabbits, and the round bolsters are pocket friendly.

I carried a Blue 3318 daily for 10 years before going down the traditional rabbit hole. That's right one pocket knife for 10 years.
Rounded bolsters make it very pocket friendly. Keep in mind that my stockman also had the much maligned 'Case SS' blades and they took and kept a good edge.

Thanks for the opinions, I'm soon off to trade school and I'm feeling the derlin would be alittle better flr greasy/oily hands than some beautiful chestnut bone. I love both knives so its alittle tough to decide since I'm looking to cary ONE knife or at least primarily one knife. Funny you should say that stevo because I was inspired to purchase the 18 after lusting after one of those henry's!

I have one in Blue Bone in SS. It's been a good little knife. I just got a CV in Chestnut Bone, but due to the very tight pen, weak clip, and gaps in the covers, It'll be getting a trip to Case.

There are a number of patterns that Case labels as "Medium Stockman":

'344 - 3 1/4" Small humpback style, squarish bolsters

'3087 - 3 3/8" Round bolster serpentine (same frame as the Pen and Medium Jack)
'3090 - 3 3/8" Round bolster equal end, stubby cigar.

'318 - 3 5/8" Round bolster serpentine
'318PU - 3 5/8" Round bolster serpentine with punch
'3032 - 3 5/8" Square bolster serpentine
'3046 - 3 5/8" Humpback

'347 - 3 7/8" Round bolster serpentine

Of those models I only own a few (63090, 63032, 6347) and the one that gets the pocket time is the 63032, Chestnut Brown CV model. I don't have any experience carrying or using the '18 model.

I really like the 63032's profile and blade combo. Other than the bolster shape, the only difference is the 3rd blade is a pen rather than a spey. On the 3318 it's a spey or punch.

This summer I've been carrying a Pocketworn Old Redbone 6318SS for my primary EDC. I own a lot of knives, but have found this one to be close to perfect for my EDC purposes. As already mentioned it is very pocket friendly. OH
