Casio resin watch bands

I like Casio resin (plastic) bands.

I bought a Casio watch, an AQ-130, a while ago. It came with the typical black Casio resin band. I figured I would change the band to a one-piece Nato-type band when I got around to it, something I've done with other watches. But, while wearing the Casio with the resin band until I made the switch, I came to like the resin band.
I had always thought of Casio's resin bands as being kind of cheap and junky, the sort of thing that I would replace with a better band. But after using one for a while I see that they're pretty good. They may not have the image that higher-end bands such as kevlar have, but the resin bands work quite well, and I would choose resin over kevlar and such, price aside.

I know a lot of people like fancy bands such as stainless, kevlar, leather, etc., and that they wouldn't consider a less-expensive, prosaic product like the Casio resin band, but I think that these resin bands are pretty darn good and are worth considering. I like these things so much that I'm even going to put one on my sundial and my hoola-hoop. Maybe even my gyroscope.

So there.

This is the watch mentioned.

And a mighty fine watch it is, too. A good clean design without any trendy features. Not fancy or expensive or trendy, but really nice as it is. It stands up well to any watch out there, I kid you not.

The face as shown in the picture has the backlight on. Without the backlight on, the hands are a greenish "radioactive" colour, and the face is a pale yellow. It looks great. The hands are luminescent.

An unusual feature of this watch is that it has 2 batteries, one for the backlight and one for the rest of the watch's functions (time and alarm).

I have worn mine with 2 years w/o any problems.

After seeing everyone's cool gear here, I questioned it.

Still haven't gotten around to replacing it.

BTW, I've been looking for an electronic sundial with tritium inserts. I bet a resin band on one of those would be just the ticket!

I also have a Casio with the resin band. My watch is one of their dive models and has held up well under heavy use. Although after three years the band is separating near the clasp. I tried to locate a replacement in town and have not had any luck. Any ideas on finding a replacement resin band online?

My casio needed new resin bands every few years. My favorite thing about them was they didn't stink. All the leather and cloth based bands I've tried start to stink just cause I use them hard and they get wet lots.

Right now, I'm using a cheap Timex carabiner watch. Waterproof and no smell. Ugly and bulky though.

It must be at least 8 years old. I got it when Indiglo back lighting was near state of the art. I'm pretty sure I paid near $100.00 for it on sale. I thnk the had an alloy cased model for more like $150.00 with the resin strap.

After about three years of nearly everyday use (I also had a cursed Citizen dress watch) I needed a strap. Like Southpaw I couldn't easily find a local Casio official replacement strap and settled for a less than perfect imitation. It's still on the watch and holding up fine several years later.

I should admit that the watch has been informally retired for a few months now as these days I'm wearing my Omega Seamaster that my wife got me for my 40th birthday. It seems to hold up as well as the Casio but look a bit nicer (afterall, I am a salesman not a tradesman these days).

Southpaw: To find an online seller of Casio bands, go to Google and type in "casio watch bands". Another search engine should work as well.
