Hi Guys,

I have a Case Barlow that was my granfathers. The main clip blade or spring is bad and no longer has any snap or lock ability at all. There is no physical
damage and the knife is actually in very good condition other than that. The pen blade works perfectly. I have the feeling it is 30-40 years old. 2 questions: Will Case warranty repair the knife and can you identify the age? Clip blade has Cass XX of course on one side and then the marking 620091/2 on the back. Thanks for your answers in advance.

Oops I see I mis-spelled Case in the title:o

Spelling "Case" wrong twice will probably result in a permanent ban from this site. :p kidding of course.

I'm sure your grandfather would be happy to know you have his knife and have taken an interest in getting it repaired. Are you going to carry it?

To accurately date your knife we would need to see a picture of tang markings. There are too many variations of "Case XX" to even take a guess on a pattern that has been in production for so long.

As far as repair goes, I would give Case a call and see. If that doesn't work, there are other options to getting it repaired. Try Case first and see what they say.

Morrow,
1st of all thanks for your answer and oops on the spelling.:D

2nd thanks for the thought about Skip(grandfather)-he was a good friend-actually grandfather in law. The knife was a user and I will carry it if it gets fixed. I am visisting from the Buck forum but I dont think anyone will shoot arrows if I work this one into my edc rotation from time to time.

Last. Unfortunately Im a technitwit and my computer is on the Fritz:p so I cant get pictures- I dont see any other tang stamps but the front is actually
CASE XX
U.S.A.
....(4 DOTS)
Hopefully that helps

If the tang stamp is exactly as you "typed" it...with the dots below "USA", the knife would have been manufactured in 1976. If the dots are in between the Case XX and USA then the knife would be from 1986.

Thanks Morrow,
Indeed the dots directly below USA. Thanks for the info. I figgered it had to
be around that age based on appearance.

Well, I called Case and they said wear is not covered and they dont have replacement parts for it anyway-very disappointing. I may be interested in
the other options you speak of.
