Seeing HornyToad`s post on his Belt Hawk, and mqqn`s post on the DBH, got me wondering, does anyone actually use their Cassam Hawks? I`ve seen pleny of pics of Belt Hawks being used, but never a CTH or Urban Hawk in use. Just wondering.

I`m starting to think people are buying them because they look cool, and don`t use them.

I use the heck outta mine. So much so, that I had to reprofile the spike end because it bent on me.

I think what you're seeing is pretty true to a lot of the "tactical" style hawks on the market. They're designed as self-defense/light breaching tools so they don't see near the use as some of your more utilitarian woods hawks and hatchets.

If I needed something for woods use, I'd go with your belt hawk. I designed it for self defense in mind first and foremost, though it chops wood ok in my use. It hasn't been used in its intended role yet (thank god) but it blasted through all the meat tests I've run it through. I would imagine a lot of the folks who buy them stick them on their nightstand... It sure does help that it looks so cool, though I'm kinda biased :D

Going through my records shows I`ve sold 10 of these, and only 1 is being used?

I'd be very interested to hear feedback from the other 9 as well, as far as use goes...

Mine is has not been used much yet except to be tested alongside a few friends and their hawks, against several windows, doors and a few cinder blocks and walls. It fits right in with their winklers, JW's, etc. It keeps it's own against them, and the price point is envied amongst the guys.
Mine is heavier than theirs, but the weight is negligible and is comfortable and controllable in hand.
The thicker ground spike is perfect.. this thing is made for it's purposes, 100%.

Very cool to hear your thoughts. If you really wanna see it shine, do a few meat tests. The head geometry and extra weight make it devastating...

Next Saturday, it'll taste some blocks of ballistics gel after some ammo testing.
Should be another interesting training prep. I have no doubts that it will shine and endure during real world tasks. It already has a standardized location for carry; getting used to it so drawing it will be instinctual when it is needed.

Keep us posted! Maybe some pics!? :D

Looking forward to a review of how it worked out for you. Now I know at least 2 are being used.

I apologize for not responding sooner; life has a way of intruding.

During our training day, we had two 3' X 1' X 1' (more or less) blocks of unpenetrated BG leftover at the end of the day. From a downward chop/swing, hawk blade first, it buried the entire head three inches from the bottom, and backed up two inches.. the only thing stopping it was the handle. Using the spike forward, it buried approximately 5 inches from the bottom momentarily and then backed up until only the spike was embedded.. due to the handle and it's angle.
There was virtually no feeling of resistance.
Of course, these were amateurish tests, just to slake some curiousity, but it was fun.

Then we all got our blades out and chopped the heck out of the blocks using no rhyme or reason whatsoever :-)

It is the more handle biased out of everyone else's Hawks, but it's hardly noticeable to me.

Sorry, no pics were possible.

Love the Hawk John, thanks

Ive been on a few backpacking excursions with mine. Both in Pisghah Ntnl and in Linville gorge. I used it to clear small trees from the trail and to make kindling. I need to put up some pics. Its kind of developed a decent patina. Edge is still nice... of course

I had my honey-do list and was tasked with de-limbing an invasive tree in my yard today. Needless to say, about 30 minutes after I started my fiancée came running out of the house telling me to stop. I got a little carried away with my CTH and basically left a stump in the ground. I guess I was just supposed to "trim" the tree apparently. Fun day, love my hawk, still haven't had to kill anyone with it yet!

Hope you all had a nice Memorial Day and got to spend it with loved ones!

Mine is used quite regularly to chop up blocks of wood for the barbecue. Next time I use it, I'll post more pics though I doubt it will be this weekend. It's supposed to get to 110 degrees here!

Headed up to the high country for Father's Day weekend for beer, horseshoes, beer, cigars, barbecue, and beer. Used the spike hawk to bust up some chunks of hardwood for the barbecue. Had one block give me a little resistance until I whacked it with the spike. In all, a great time and the hawk performed flawlessly as expected.

I have plans to get one, or perhaps the hatchet, but probably not until next year. I would like something like that to carry in my UTV for working on my property. For now I have an "el cheapo" machette but this would serve my needs far better. :)
