As I get older, and work with some health issues, I find myself, more and more, camping out of my truck, and not a back pack. With that in mind, I have more options for cooking than in the past.
Cast iron camp cookware is working out well for me. I can enjoy more variety than Mountain House Freeze Dried and Spam. ;)
Fresh baked biscuits, bread, Chili, Posole, roast chicken and other dishes are fairly easy with the right gear.

That's a pretty sweet looking setup you have there .

Damn , now you have me thinking LOL . I use cast iron in the kitchen and have some others I was going to sell .
Now I'm thinking maybe I should bring them when I take the Jeep . Hmmmm something to think about .

HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS !

I see you let a carbon steel pan sneak in there as well. I have been expanding my carbon steel collection - works well for outdoor cooking and not quite the weight of the cast iron. I have even re-purposed some new carbon steel paella pans made in Spain and bought at a discount store as low as $7.99 for the 34cm (13.3 in) diameter pans to use for general outdoor cooking, not just paella.

Cast iron is all we cook on at home anymore. And for basecamps, a Dutch Oven is key.

I agree. Cast iron is amazing. We have been playing around with our Dutch oven and I don't think we will camp without it. How else are you supposed to have fresh biscuits and gravy???

I am a fan of cast iron for home or camping out. your selection has all the bases covered and then some!!

I use cast iron at the house just as much as outdoors. Love its non stick qualities.

Rule one... DONT WASH IT WITH SOAP... Unless it is giving a metalic taste... then reseason.

Yea me too ! I have a couple that belonged to my grandmothers hundred years old plus !
Jake
And they're probably better quality than what you can buy today!

My wife (fortunately for me) is a wizard with dutch oven cooking. That's why I'm getting fat.... Nothing like cherry cobbler for breakfast, along with bacon, eggs, sausage, potatoes, I'm getting hungry now!

Made bread in the 4 qt oven yesterday. Need to get my camp cooking skill set up to speed.

Pancakes! I just had dinner but now you got me thinking about breakfast.

Also, cast iron damper is pure camping gold.
If damper is not a familiar term, well here's a 'instructional' video made by a more.. um... experienced camp cook. The video is charming in its own way. About the 9min mark it comes out "like a professional".

The video does give a little flavour and a blunt view of outback people over there at the northern quarter of Western Australia.

OH my God!!! BISCUITS!!! Cornbread!!!! YES!!! I wanna camp with that guy! Roughing it my ass.

In British Scouts we learnt to make Twist and Damper
Damper is cooked on a hot stone or fry pan (Bannock)
Twist is the same dough twisted round a stick and cooked over the fire

The cast iron Dutch oven and a Skillet is what darn near everyone coming across the US during the Westward Movement covered wagon era ate out of. Nothing better for camp or home cooking!

Someplace I have a small cast iron pan that is almost backpackable. Darn if I can find it. That said have larger pans but no pots. In any case nothing cooks as well as cast iron IMHO.
