At the time of posting , its 4 hours to touchdown of a catagory 5 cyclone in north queensland , its kinda close to the scale of Hurrican Katrina ..

its gunna be a disaster on a scale that will make the floods we had look small time .

a lot of people were able to leave the area or head to safe locations . a lot didnt go , but headed to evac centres , there is upset that police are turning people away from these centres now , because they ae well and truly full beyond capacity , enough that they are unsafe as it is , there is simply no room , so ... the guys who want looking after simply are sitting inthe carpark figuring that since there is so many of them there , someone will do something ...

good time to seriously think about having the go bag or bug out bag or personal kit etc ready and handy ...

My blade related thoughts are here that small blades win out , since when there is mass movement of sheeples , any thing weapon looking can cause a lot of fuss that is really not needed in a time as this

here at least
but yeah , spare a thought for the lotta people who are tonight waiting to see if they have a home to go back to , and the others who are waiting to see if they just survive it

It will be interesting to look back & see if we have the same relative scale of social problems that were reported after Katrina hit.

I guess only time will tell

Kind regards

i don't think the social problems are the problem. Katrina hit an area with tremendous social problems already.

It isn't easy picking up and leaving town when the weather is going to get you wherever you go. I hope they make it. How long is the storm supposed to be in the area?

Prayers sent for our brothers and sisters in Queensland. I'm sure the U.S. stands ready to help.

Huge storm, considered worst in decades, roars through US

A winter weather colossus roared into America's heartland Tuesday, laying down a paralyzing punch of dangerous ice and whiteout snow that served notice from Texas to Maine that the storm billed as the worst in decades was living up to the hype so far.

The system that stretched more than 2,000 miles (3,200 kilometers) across a third of the country promised to leave in its aftermath a chilly cloak of teeth-chattering cold, with temperatures in the single digits or lower.

We are keeping yall in our thoughts n prayers "aussieland"....may not be much else us little people can do.

Prayers to you my friend. Stock up on water and deliver if you can

That's a massive cyclone! Smoke and prayers for down-under...stay safe and if you get a chance let us know you made it...

water will be your biggest concern since all sanitation systems will be down. cholera is always a big possibility in the aftermath. persons remaining in affected areas are wise to support each other against looters & crazies. i know this is aussieland but arm yourself if possible.many people in katrina's ravaged area were victamized. rescue & aid in devastasion of large areas is scanty; really are on your own.--dennis

Myal, I think having the BOB is great and every one should have one, but how do out run a storm like that? I think a canoe and your BOB will be the best thing.
Really I am sure sorry to see this happen in your area after what you all just went through with the flooding.

With the storms ( winter, flooding, and everything else) that are happening all over the world and the unrest in some the Muslim areas it really is a scary world we live in at times.

Prayers for you and yours.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts .

Its not over , but the worst is past , a number of towns are like bombs hit them some said to be wiped completey ... last night the phone systems were kinda choked has the main storm wandered a little off course and hit places that were not expecting to be taking the brunt of the force and people began to worry and were saying last goodbyes

they looking at 10 days no power at least for some places , its hot , humid , and there is flooding problems from tidal surge on the coast , and expected flooding from the rain being dumped as it goes inland

Its looking like everyone survived ... tho a number of towns are cut off , no roads or communiations working yet

THere is still the usual dangers of storm surge and super high tides and rough weather , and sight see-ers and ruberneckers getting in trouble .

THe cyclone is still heading inland , and expected to virtualy cross the nation ending as a rain bearing depression in the midle of west aus

its looking like people were mostly smart enough to get out , but that there is a hell of a lot of damage done .

I am not in the danger area , I have been tracking down pple I know who are , Before I got kids , I used to spend all my time drifting around up there in the summer now I got kids Im tied down to being in one spot at least during the school terms
