I am drawn to this model for a few reasons. I need a front pocket smaller knife for a little more detailed work as well as using around nkp. Right now im carrying a manix 2 m4 and feel its up too every task I throw at it. It is however way to big to carry around the house and so the search for a smaller blade starts.

I like the chaparral alot. The specs pin it as almost everything I am looking for. Nice thin blade for slicing with a fine point. Size from the specs and comparison pics shows me its about ideal. The negative thing about it for me is the lock and internals. Two many working parts. I work with stone and between the dust from that coupled with my amazing power of producing pocket lint on contact keeps me guarded against buying a closed backlock design. The cat seems to solve this issue with its liner lock construction. I would be losing some realestate all the way around, which really the handle is the only place I will really miss any material. Anyways i am really looking for a comparison pic of the cat with a spydie or two that I own so I can compare a little. No one has one in stock around me. Lined up choils with a manix 2 would be ideal. Or next to a dfly as I have handled one of those a few times. Maybe someone that gunks up a lockback on a regular basis can ease my worry? Maybe their is another model im missing? Thanks

Not exactly what you're looking for, but it might be helpful. For what it's worth the Cat is a fantastic knife.

Thanks willy. The blade is wider then the dfly? Would have never thought that. Just read over the 3" knife thread and saw your posts about the cat. I was wishing I could find the s30v version too do what you did. But thats because I preffer that steel. Thanks for the pics
