I'm looking into buying a Catbyrd and would like any information you could give me about it. I know the specs and the quality of Byrd knives; what I'm looking for is usage data and how people like it. I've read that the frame lock is a bit stiff, but I'm not sure if this is the norm with this model.
It looks like a nice $30 frame lock.

Photos would be a great help as well :D

Sorry that I don't have any pics, JN, but I can give you my opinion.

The Catbyrd is a very solid (weighty) knife with a very solid frame lock. The robust frame lock is indeed stiff and is the same on both of my Catbyrds. The depth and full flat grind of the blade makes it an excellent slicer and is 'hair popping' out of the box. Should you wish to choke up on the blade, the jimping on the choil and thumb ramp allow for secure control. Fully adjustable pivot, solid clip and open frame construction compliment the tip up carry. Let's see...T6 and T10 Torx screws, PB washers and well fitted, textured rubber inserts inserts on the handle completes the picture. The F & F is excellent, however there are a couple of sharp edges on the frame near the front of the lockbar that would benefit from a bit of crocus cloth.

All in all, definitely worth the money.

Here are some photos of the Catbyrd with a Delica4 and a Manix2. Sorry about the poor quality, but hopefully they will give you enough to go on.

It's about half the knife of the Tenacious in terms of finish but at the discounted price I guess it's not a bad deal.
The lock bar and frame have sharp edges. The lock bar takes a lot of pressure to disengage.
The rubbery filler in the handle looks bad and varies between samples as far as how deep and even it is.
The blade is flat ground but the edge is quite thick. Much thicker than the Tenacioius.
Did they scrap plans for a sprint run in titanium?
