If you compare the blade on Catcherman to normal fillet knives which is thinner and more flexible, yeah, the C17 blade is definitely thicker. I have several finnish fillet blades that chips easily. One actually snapped in half while I was flexing the blade. The Catherman works rather fine and is great for manouvering around bones. Its hard enough to avoid chipping its edge. I like it because it hold an edge and is easy to sharpen
