I've been noticing lately that a couple blades have come up with Caterpillar steel (mostly ultimate fighters-one of which I snagged)

The Kami's know what they are doing and if they are choosing this caterpillar steel for a very big knife called the "ultimate fighter" I would assume it confers some sort of benefit over the standard blade steel. Is this the case?

Yangdu is checking with the shop to verify the information she has. I'll let you guys know as soon as I know.

Berkely wrote something about the steel from the Caterpillar site. Yangdu is chacking.

I do know the special orders she sold recently were a typical Kami mixup, and why Bill hated special orders. A customer sent steel and wood to be used for knives of his design. The Kamis ignored both and used Caterpillar steel- which they thought 'special'. The customer was rightfully disapointed and did not want the products. Forumites benefited from Kamis stubborness.

I am curious to whether the Kamis are using blade steel, track steel, or steel plate. Maybe all? Huh?

I was thinking we should bid on some surplus Russian tanks...

That's a lot of "mystery steel" !! Grousers probably made of Hadfield steel. Cat used to use a good bit of Boron steel ,there weren't many mills that made that.
